KREAR is the result of a union between Grupo Secil and Grupo Casais – leaders in the construction sector – with the promise of contributing to a more sustainable world for future generations. How? Through an innovative unit in Estarreja, in the district of Aveiro, the company will develop industrialized construction solutions – 2D and 3D concrete pieces to make large-scale buildings more efficient, safe, and with high quality standards.
This type of construction involves modern processes and uses cutting-edge materials, utilizing prefabricated or pre-assembled components (modules) in a controlled factory environment. These components are then transported to the construction site where assembly takes place. The advantages over traditional methods are numerous: reduction of raw material waste, optimization in the use of prefabricated elements, efficient production processes, sustainable transport and assembly planning, as well as the use of recycled materials.
A project carried out through industrialized construction can have a duration between 25 percent to 50 percent shorter when compared to the traditional construction method.
KREAR is certified by the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), one of the most widely used independent environmental assessment methods worldwide for analyzing building sustainability. BREEAM encourages greater awareness of sustainable construction practices, evaluating various environmental performance criteria: management, health and well-being, energy, water, materials, waste, transport, pollution, land use, and ecology.
Buildings are assessed in each of these categories and obtain a score that results in a final classification certificate.
